portslie Checks FiveM

FiveM server monitoring

A FiveM server whose port answers can still be sitting there with three resources loaded. portslie reads the same data as the server list and alerts you when the server doesn't answer or has only half started. For FiveM and RedM.

What portslie queries

Each check fetches the server's /info.json and /players.json. They provide the slots (sv_maxClients), the player count and the number of loaded resources.

Resources are where a port check is blind: after a restart, or when something goes wrong during startup, the server already answers but has only loaded a handful of resources. For players it isn't there yet, for an uptime service it is.

Three levels instead of green or red

The report says at which level the server stops, with the answer word for word.

  1. Level 1: port reachable. The port accepts the connection, but /info.json doesn't answer.
  2. Level 2: protocol answers. The answer has the expected form, but no slots or fewer than 5 resources. Usually the server is still starting.
  3. Level 3: content plausible. Slots set, at least 5 resources loaded. The report then says, for example, 41/64 players, 212 resources.

What you get

Questions about FiveM monitoring

Do I need a resource or a key on the server?

No. Every FiveM server serves /info.json and /players.json by itself; the server list is filled the same way. portslie only needs address and port.

What if I have turned off players.json?

Then portslie doesn't get the expected answer and reports level 1 or 2 at most. For monitoring, both addresses must be reachable from outside.

Does portslie see resource times or server load?

No. That can only be measured from inside, for example with the server's profiler. portslie checks from outside whether the server answers the way the server list sees it.

Does portslie host FiveM servers?

No. portslie only monitors, wherever the server runs. FiveM and RedM are trademarks of their owners; portslie is not affiliated with them.
